According to a news release issued by OpenAI on Tuesday, ChatGPT now includes a new feature called Tasks, which allows you to schedule repeating tasks or create reminders.
According to OpenAI, functions include the ability to have ChatGPT provide weekly news briefings and daily weather updates. Other jobs may include having ChatGPT notify you in six months when your passport will expire, or coming up with jokes for kids every day at 6 p.m.
When asked for a reply, OpenAI referred to a post on X, the social media network that was previously known as Twitter.
Today, we’re releasing a beta version of tasks, a new method to ask ChatGPT to perform things for you in the future.
Whether it’s one-time reminders or repeated activities,
Tell ChatGPT what you need and when, and it will take care of it for you.
OpenAI’s new feature launch comes as other AI businesses seek to differentiate themselves in a competitive industry. Perplexity, an AI-powered search engine, announced a partnership with Tripadvisor last week to enrich results with information from Tripadvisor users. Later this year, Gemini AI integrations will be added to the Google TV platform, allowing users to ask TV questions in the same way they would on their smartphones. Meta is also looking at more ways to give people AI, like potentially bringing Meta AI to WhatsApp users.
These measures make AI more ubiquitous in user’s lives and also drive up companies’ valuations. Perplexity was appreciated
Around $500 million at the beginning of 2024 and has risen to $60 billion by the end of the year, while Anthropic has tripled its valuation to $9 billion in the same time period. While these are amazing figures, neither can compare to the stratospheric ascent of OpenAI, which was valued at $157 billion in October after nearly tripling in less than a year. OpenAI’s value may climb further when ChatGPT’s integration with Apple Intelligence gains traction and new capabilities are released.
At the present, Tasks is currently in beta and will roll out to Plus, Team and Pro customers over the coming several days. Tasks will be available on desktop, web, and mobile, but the tasks manager can only be accessed via the web.
browser. OpenAI says it’s limiting this service to premium customers so it can study how people are using the tool before pushing it out to free users.
